What we keep about you, and why.

If you just read the site
You don't need an account. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and links are used. Your browser keeps a few settings for you on your own device (your tab, voice and prices choices).
If you create an account
- Your email address, to sign you in and to send the emails you ask for (a password reset, the daily wrap if you tick it). It is also on our members mailing list, for GoldSquawk news; every email has an Unsubscribe link.
- Your password, stored only as a one-way hash: nobody, including us, can read it.
- Your alerts (urgent headlines, prices, keywords) and a short log of the alerts we sent you.
- Where alerts go: the browser push address your browser gives us, and your Telegram chat id if you connect Telegram.
- When you signed up and were last signed in.
We don't sell or share your details. Emails are sent through our email provider; alerts through your browser's push service or Telegram.
If you subscribe to Pro
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us. We keep your Stripe customer and subscription ids, and your subscription's status (for example monthly, renewing or cancelled), so we know you have Pro. Pro members are also on our Pro members mailing list, for news about Pro; every email has an Unsubscribe link.
If you contact us
Messages sent through the contact page (your name, email, topic and message, and your IP address to stop abuse) are kept so we can answer them and are emailed to our support inbox.
Daily wrap emails
If you sign up for the daily wrap, your email is on that mailing list. Every email has an Unsubscribe link.
Deleting your data
On your account page, "Delete my account" removes your account, alerts, push addresses and Telegram link straight away, cancels a Pro subscription, and takes you off the members mailing lists. Stripe keeps its own payment records, as the law requires. To stop the daily wrap, use Unsubscribe in any wrap email.
